In 2022, Futures created a new employee initiative to recognise those that have gone above and beyond in their role: the Futures Quarterly Award. Award winners are nominated by their peers for reasons ranging from strong client delivery and management to supporting their colleagues and contributing to team culture. The prize is two tickets to a sporting event of their choice including accommodation and travel where the budget allows, depending on how ambitious they have been with the event they choose!
Lizzie Roberts won the award in Q1 of 2023 as an Analyst and travelled to India in March 2024 to attend the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Many members across the team nominated Lizzie for the award, emphasising the great work she was doing across multiple client accounts whilst also supporting several of our internal initiatives. Highlights included:
• Making a great impression on the client in her first full quarter on our adidas account and using her technical expertise to quickly improve our internal processes.
• Managing a large part of our Formula E scope and being instrumental in upskilling members of the team.
• Somehow still finding the time to support the team internally from leading interviews and managing our Graduate Analyst programme to helping run the Python Working Group.
She has continued to go from strength so strength, being promoted to Senior Analyst since the award and continuing to develop her responsibilities within the team. She has not only been integral in supporting our diversity and inclusion efforts but also continued to hone her own skills by joining the Women’s Sport Trust account and presenting the research in public webinars.
Lizzie arrived in Jaipur to watch the Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants for their first match of the season. The Rajasthan Royals got off to a moderate start, before local favourite Samson stepped up to get 82 not out. The Lucknow Super Giants fell short of the 193 to beat, giving the Rajasthan Royals the win to the delight of the fans!
“It was an electric atmosphere and one that I’m very grateful I had the opportunity to experience! The energy and passion for cricket in India was even greater than I imagined, with everyone we met obsessed with the sport!”
She also managed to squeeze in an Indian Super League football game. It was a high-spirited game featuring six goals and two red cards, which unfortunately saw the home team, the Kerala Blasters, lose 4-2 to East Bengal. The game also had a great atmosphere, with over 23,000 fans of all ages cheering on the Blasters.
As it was her first trip to India, Lizzie certainly made the most of her time there and ticked off seven different locations! Although inclement weather shortened the trek, Lizzie enjoyed seeing the Himalayas which has always been a bucket list item for her. This trip occurred during the London Marathon training period, but thankfully the Jaipur Half Marathon coincided with her time there and provided a great way to see the city! She also found time to visit the Taj Mahal, which was a particular highlight of the time there. Lizzie thoroughly enjoyed her time attending such fantastic events in an incredible country and was grateful not only for the opportunity afforded to her by Futures but also that the company created a great initiative to reward and incentivise employees.
