Quarterly Award Q3 2022: Nitharsan Sathiyalingam

In 2022, Futures created a new employee initiative to recognise those that have gone above and beyond in their role: the Futures Quarterly Award. Award winners are nominated by their peers for reasons ranging from strong client delivery and management to supporting their colleagues and contributing to team culture. The prize is two tickets to a sporting event of their choice including accommodation and travel where the budget allows, depending on how ambitious they have been with the event they choose!

Nitharsan Sathiyalingam won 2022’s Q3 award and travelled to Paris in May 2023 to attend Roland-Garros (the French Open). As an avid tennis fan, Nitharsan was thrilled to be able to tick off one of the biggest boxes on his bucket list.

Nitharsan was the second winner of this reward and thoroughly deserved it after receiving many nominations covering various parts of his work at Futures. At the time of winning, he was 18 months into his career as a Graduate Analyst at Futures and had not only become an integral member of both the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and National Football League (NFL) account teams but also put his stamp on the whole company:

• “The kindest person – always willing to help, regardless of the time or what else he has on.”
• “Amazing attention to detail – no stone is ever left unturned when it comes to his analysis!”
• “An actual Python wizard – no problem is too big or too small and his self-taught passion has already delivered significant benefits to the business.”

It’s pleasing to add that since winning the award, Nitharsan has continued to shine having been promoted twice and is now a Senior Analyst.

Nitharsan had tickets to a night session on Philippe Chatrier followed by a day ticket on Suzanne Lenglen, meaning he was able to see numerous men’s and women’s players in action.

“The highlight for me, from a tennis perspective, was the Andrey Rublev vs Lorenzo Sonego match as Sonego shocked Rublev in an epic five-set match in front of a packed crowd!”

He also really enjoyed the Alexander Zverev vs Alex Molcan match during the night session, particularly due to the electric atmosphere with plenty of ‘Allez! Allez! Allez!’ chants lighting up the stadium.

In addition to two sessions at the tennis, Nitharsan spent time walking around the city’s different arrondissements. As arguably the fastest walker in Futures, Nitharsan lived up to his reputation by managing to average over 20k steps per day whilst exploring Paris! Overall, Nitharsan had a great time on his trip and noted that the scheme has been a very positive addition to working at Futures with it acting as a great motivator for our team of sports fanatics!
